In 2020, the City of Port Moody will be developing a Housing Needs Report in line with the parameters set out by the Province of British Columbia. City has identified a need for market-rental and below-market rental housing in the community and will be creating policies to require these units in future developments. As part of this work, the City recognizes that a greater understanding of Port Moody’s needs is necessary to underpin the housing work the municipality will undertake in the future. The Housing Needs Report will consist of both a quantitative analysis of the current housing situation in the City, as well as consulting with the local health authority, non-profits, developers, and the public to get a better understanding of the needs of residents, and to ensure equitable access to housing in Port Moody. City staff intend to report back to Port Moody Council with the Housing Needs Report in Fall 2020. |
